2024 INTER GIRLS AFL CHAMPIONSHIPS

SACRED HEART REIGN SUPREME
Sacred Heart continues to reign supreme in GISSA Female AFL.
The all-girls school is once again Champions of the Inter Female (Year 9 + 10) Division.
The girls in blue and white won all four of their games during the tournament staged at St Josephs Football Club, grabbing the trophy with stirring victories against Christian College Geelong in the Semi-Final and then Clonard College in the Grand Final.
Clonard College, the other all-girls school competing on the day, also rode an undefeated run into the Grand Final, defeating Iona College Geelong in the Semi-Final before just going down to Sacred Heart by 14 points in the decider.
As has been the case over the last three years in particular, the standard of play was exceptional and further underlined the massive development female football is undergoing at the teenage level.
Having secured the 2024 GISSA Championship, Sacred Heart will again contest the AFL Victoria Herald Sun Shield later this year as the representative from GISSA, taking on the winners of the other major school sporting associations around the State.
