2024 JUNIOR GIRLS AFL CHAMPIONSHIPS

PLENTY OF HOPE FOR THE FUTURE
The future is bright for female football in GISSA!
The standard of football produced by our Member Schools has amazed all year, however it was never more evident than at the Junior Female AFL Championships.
To see the standard of play produced by the Year 7 + 8 students who competed was to realise just how far the game has come – and just how early female players are now starting to develop their skills and game IQ.
It must be so encouraging and rewarding for those who have invested time, energy and resources to promote the game to young females in Geelong.
The hard work is paying off and – if this Event is any indication – it will only get better in the years ahead.
In particular, there are great signs for Sacred Heart College.
The all-girls school made it a ‘hat trick’ of GISSA Championships by winning this Event, placing the Junior Female Trophy next to the other two Championships they won at the Inter Female and Senior Female Events.
In all, nine Member Schools fielded teams and there were 21 games played across the day, creating an uplifting atmosphere full of colour, smiles and high fives.
