2024 SENIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Christian College Geelong has returned to the top of the senior female basketball ranks with an undefeated run through this year’s GISSA Championships at AWA Stadium.

The Eagles soared through the preliminary rounds with a 0-3 record, and then capped off a perfect day with wins against Iona College in the semi-final and then Clonard College in the Grand Final.

It was a connected and committed showing from the CCG Eagles – marked by a stifling zone defence – that underpinned a complete team effort from all 8 players in maroon.

The Eagles were challenged by Iona in a hard-fought semi-final in which only 5 points separated the teams (32-27) – and the Grand Final was also a competitive, low-scoring contest, with the Eagles only pulling away in the final few minutes to win 22-13.

Congratulations to all teams who participated in this Event. The camaraderie that was displayed between players from different schools was something that stood out to spectators – and is a trademark of GISSA.
