CLONARD RISE TO THE OCCASION
Clonard College are basking in the glory of a rare win in Soccer.
The College’s Senior Female Team accomplished a feat very few have been able to accomplish in recent years: upstage Kardinia International College on the Soccer Field.
Kardinia has been a powerhouse in Soccer in both the male and female divisions for as long as anyone can remember.
However, that doesn’t mean there can’t be a surprise every now and then, and so it was at the 2024 Senior Female Soccer Championships.
Screaming out of Pool B with convincing victories over Geelong Lutheran College and the CCG Eagles, Clonard set up a marquee Grand Final Match up against Kardinia, who were also dominate in Pool A – winning all of their games with a 14-2 for-and-against combined scoring line across the three matches.
But not even Kardinia were a match for Clonard in the big one, with the girls in green completing a flawless day of round ball with a stirring 4-0 triumph in the decider, which took their own combined for-and-against goals score line to 15-0 for the tournament.
Congratulations to Clonard and all the students who competed in what was another terrific Event played in the true ‘GISSA spirit’ of friendship and respect.
