RULES:
The GISSA Senior Competition will operate as:
‘Round-robin’ competition based on team entries and a Semi-Finals and ‘Play-off’ Finals for the girls and a “Play-off” round for the boys.
Matches played as 2x12minute halves, with a 2min. half-time break in both the Preliminary Rounds and the ‘Play-off’ Finals.
Boys will play a total of 6 matches and Girls will play 5. This is based on the number of team entries.
Trophy presented to the winning School in each Competition.
Medallion provided for best player from each Team.
Presentations at 2:15pm
Scoring: 2 points a win, 1 point a draw, 0 points a loss for all Preliminary Rounds.
GISSA Competition Rules & Draws:
Normal F.I.B.A rules apply, with Referees provided by Basketball Geelong.
The 20point team rule applies. When a team is 20 points or more in front, they must drop back into the back third of the court. This applies only in a ‘Dead Ball’ situation. This must continue until the lead has been reduced to under 20 points.
In the ‘Play-off’ Final, the clock is stopped only on every whistle in the last minute of the 2nd half, if margin is less than 8pts.
One time out per half. No time outs in the last minute of the first half.
