WHO IS GISSA?

GISSA is a company established to manage and promote the Inter-School Sport Programs of independent schools in the Geelong region. The number of schools affiliated with our organisation has grown to 10, with the following Schools all participating in our GISSA Sporting Programs in one form or another:

To be recognised as a leading School Sporting Association in the Geelong Region – and provide our Member Schools with quality and inclusive school sporting competitions, where students foster an enjoyment and appreciation for Interschool Sport.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

To provide high-quality sporting competitions.
To provide competitions that utilise appropriate facilities, officials and support staff to create a safe environment.
To provide opportunities that foster individual talent, leadership, team spirit, inclusive and ethical behaviour.
To provide financially sustainable administration and sporting competitions for our Member Schools.
To work alongside other School Sporting Associations to foster a positive relationship and seek sporting ‘pathways’ for our Member Schools.
To assist, strengthen and promote the interests of Member Schools in the Geelong and wider community.

GISSA has a massive network of people connected to our organisation. And, when you factor in the families attached to each of those students and staff, our reach across Geelong has unlimited potential.

That’s approximately how much physical activity we produce for students every year across our numerous Programs, which includes afternoon competitions every Wednesday and Championship Carnival Days all year round for our most popular Sports.

20 DIFFERENT SPORTS

We are all about inclusivity at GISSA, that’s why we provide a choice for every student, for all abilities. And there are even plans to provide non-sporting options in the future – such as Robotics, Debating, Music, Chess and more!
